Improvement of Li-ion battery Regarding the Li-ion cell, my interest is to address the cost, capacity loss, safety and cycle life. Though cobalt oxide is the considered as the best cathode material to host the lithium ions, the high cost, less abundance and environmental problems that may arise in the near future require thinking of other oxides such as Ni, Mn. Ti and Fe as alternatives. The graphite as layered 2-D structure with its high ionic conductivity is so far the best to accommodate the lithium ion still improvement is required to increase the intercalated lithium by doping with metals and nonmetals.
