Company EDP, largest Portuguese Public Utility and Grid owner planned to replace an old Co-generation plant running on HFO, due to environmental reasons. They intend to install a CHP plant, fired with natural gas based on a Gas Turbine solution. The generated electricity is used by EDP and the generated steam is used by FISIPE, fibre manufacturer. Due to this fact, both, EDP and FISIPE, found an OPCO (Operating Company). EDP decided for KAWASAKI Gas Turbine Generator Sets GPB180D and GPB80D upstream each of them one boiler with fresh air firing to secure the generation of 25 MWe, 34 t/h @ 22 bar, 304°C and 23 t/h @ 7,5 bar, 205°C for their electrical requirements and for the thermal requirements of FISIPE.
