Valve Filters and Strainer
A Strainer Valve is a pipe fitting that allows liquid to pass through for purification, filtering, or separation from solid materials, as well as any device that strains a liquid or functions as a sieve or filter to prevent solid bodies from merging in a liquid stream or flow line. The first thing to determine is the flow rate. Any flow rate more than 150 GPM will almost likely require the use of a basket strainer due to pressure drop concerns. Strainers are normally sized to have a line velocity of no more than 8 FPS and a pressure drop of no more than 2 PSI at start-up. A filter system installation should cost roughly $2,000, including labor and materials. The cost is dictated by the nature and complexity of the system. Simpler systems start at under $1,000, but more complex systems can cost up to $5,000.
