President Don Chapin Jr. and father, Don Chapin Sr., founded the Don Chapin Company in 1978 as a family owned and operated construction business. The company has since grown to become one of the largest general engineering contractors on the Central Coast.During the early years, the Don Chapin Company was most known for their septic work and small jobs in the Monterey and Santa Cruz counties. In 1982 the Don Chapin Company ventured a different road when they were awarded the Castroville Water Project. The scope of the project required the north and south ends of Castroville to be connected with miles of water pipelines and a million gallon water tank. Valves, pumps and electrical services were also installed for this project. The successful completion of this project proved that the Don Chapin Company was capable of managing large projects and put them on the map as a major public works contractor.During their 26 years of service on the Central Coast the Don Chapin Company has continually improved and expanded their facilities. In 2004 the Don Chapin Company moved into a 24,000 square foot state of the art office facility. This move along with the years of hard work and dedication to their industry and community, has positioned the Don Chapin Company for the next decade of construction perfection in both public and private sector markets.
